Working With Children & Teenagers

I have worked extensively with children and teenagers and understand only too well just how uniquely difficult life can be for them.

For some pressure from parents, siblings, peers, teachers or the media combined with high educational, sporting or cultural expectations can make life seem overwhelming.  For others the feeling that nobody cares or notices them hurts the most, they might as well be "invisible".

I have experience helping teenagers with such issues as:

  • Low Self Esteem
  • Self Harm
  • Lack of Confidence
  • Sexual Abuse
  • Parental Divorce or Separation
  • School Problems
  • Relationship and Friendship Problems
  • Bullying
  • Eating Disorders
  • Depression
  • Anxiety and Stress
  • Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
  • Anger Management

Whatever the cause or the problem, I offer a safe space for young people to talk without fear of judgment, criticism or the risk of upsetting or offending anyone.  My role is not to give advice or tell the young person what to do, rather to empower them to work out for themselves how they really feel, who they really are and what they want to achieve.

Our sessions together are confidential, unless something is revealed that implies serious danger to the young person or someone else. In that event, together we would seek the necessary urgent help and support.
